First day of the season! Second swim of the season!
So on Saturday 15th June 2024 we left the house around 4am to head to Bangor Harbour to meet the @infinitychanne3 team! Me and my team mates Adam Cook! Jim Lafferty! Dawn Evitt! and Caroline Baldwin! THE YOS JELLIES!
We were introduced to our Pilot Barry, Co Pilot Jerry and observer Jennie and our boat for the day Aareton!
We confirmed our swim order…. Adam, Jim, Caroline, Dawn and then myself!
We set off from Bangor to the swim start Robbie’s Point in Donagadee, where on land my sleeping baby boy Jackson and partner Ben was waiting and watching us or Adam start should I say!
Skip back abit I am currently 19 weeks postpartum and still breastfeeding Jackson! In total I spent 17 hours away from Jackson and Ben! Ben smashed that day looking after Jackson feeding him by bottle and battling teething! I had to pump on the boat to keep my supply and prevent any pain!
5:41am Adam set us off! Swimming was under way! Water temperature around 11.3 degrees! 5 Successful changeovers and round two started! It was cold, Sunny and choppy! And again round three started! Getting closer to Scotland! Dawn got in with just a few K to go! Dawn said she would save me some so I could swim again and I said you won’t get swimming faster! We popped some music on and got dancing and little did I know with 400m to go I was getting back in the water being told to go for it! Give it everything I have and we’ll land in portpatrick harbour! Dawn had a lovely smile on her face while swimming as I got ready to get back in And that we did! The bell was ringing! public ran to the beach! We were fortunate enough that my team mates could join me on the beach! This is a moment I’ll never forget!! And a day I will remember forever!
Thanks for all the support from everyone! And a massive thank you to my team mates for being crazy enough to say yes to me in the first place! Haha! It’s been amazing!
If you can share any spare pennies my charity this year is Pancreatic Cancer UK!
