This is a long post!! Another boundary stretching and intrepid weekend of swimming with @infinitychanne3 at #HitTheWall 2024, with Greystones Crew and the bravest of the brave cold water swimmers from all corners of the Island of Ireland and the world.
So thrilled to achieve my milestone goal this weekend, the 6hr qualifier for my Jersey to France swim later this year. A nicely challenging 14.4km swim in 13.2 degree water for 6r 20mins, thought I could even carry on. Chuffed to finish another challenging 8km race the day before and fun warm up laps after ice baths.
Thanks to the great support along the way from the Infinity crew. I wasn’t feeling ready or confident about this cold water weekend, (really need to check those nerves!) but shout out to Patricia Safety Officer for the thought provoking chat about limiting believes and intrepidacious swimming.. Love it!
Big thank you to Grainne and Milo who did boat feeds and jokes. Great Craic at @jacqueline.mcclelland and @mallonpadraig
You can think about everything and absolutely nothing on long swims. I thought of the kms already on my arms and about all the fab people who have helped me from club/lane training with Candice and Damian, the epic ultraswim33.3 adventure, winter sea dips and pool training with Heide, Sam, Bronwyn, Emma, Corinna and all my Greystones swimming friends !
Thank you for your support and camaraderie, you are what makes this mad hobby, bloody brilliant and worthwhile, I will keep coming back for more. Look out Hit the Wall 2025!
