My daughter, Jessika, a very keen and committed pool swimmer started her open water swimming journey in 2021 over lock downs when she was 14.
Jessika quickly fell in love with this new to her sport and was lucky enough to meet the Infinity crew through her open water friends, the Lough Neagh Monster Dunkers.
Jessika, although young, was taken seriously and was so wonderfully encouraged, motivated and supported from day one. That meant so much to her during a turbulent, unsettled time and 100% secured her passion for the open water.
Now 16, Jessika has taken part in many events run by infinity over the last couple of years, all fantastically organised and so much fun. Hit the Wall 2022 was incredible, although absolutely exhausted by the end of it, the child didn’t stop smiling once! The learning, the experiences, the friendships and admiration for fellow swimmers’ achievements, are something that she will carry with her for years to come. Jessika is so looking forward to Hit the Wall 2023!
With each new experience, Jessika was hungry for more. We reached out to Jacqueline and she gave Jessika the idea and set the wheels in motion for her very own, first solo challenge, the length of Carlingford Lough.
As the first junior to swim this, Jessika was supported by infinity from the minute the seeds were planted, with regular messages, calls and meet ups to discus everything from training to nutrition, to check ins, when nerves and doubts were creeping in. Guidance and support that proved absolutely invaluable.
The day of Jessikas swim, she was totally fired up and so excited, completely matched by her wonderful crew, Jacqueline, Barry and Cahán and her coach Dorothy.
The Swim went without a hitch, the professionalism on her boat was second to none. The support, the knowledge of what needed to be done and when for Jessika to reach her full potential was outstanding. As Jessikas mum, my nerves are often wrecked by her adventures in the water, but I can honestly say, we both trusted her crew absolutely.
When Jessika successfully finished her swim with a new course record, her crew celebrated with her like family.
We both can’t thank everyone in infinity enough for helping to set Jessika on her path of a life time of love for new adventures and challenges, many, I’m sure that will be supported by them.
Love and thank you from Kelly
