I would like to express my thanks for making the weekend at ‘Hit the Wall’ such fabulous fun. The whole team were very welcoming.
I came with a lot of trepidation since the heights of my swimming was coniston end to end. I was persuaded by my friend Hannah that I would be alright.
She was right I always felt included.
I had entered the battle of Carlingford swim and although I was disappointed that it was cancelled it was most definitely the correct decision. Looking at the waves at Omagh I was thinking it would be difficult to leave the harbour.
I was very grateful for the opportunity to still swim in the lough in the circuit you set out, despite the fact that it was not the personal success I had hoped for. (I was the swimmer that had a panic attack in the mass start and got a boat ride. )
However that experience did in fact teach me a lot and I was able to do the 5km swim the next day by overcoming the panic and swimming to completion.
The highlight was seeing and meeting some amazing swimmers and people from all over the world.
We happened to witness the 10hr/6hr swims from a walk at the side of the lough and could hear shouts to the swimmers and see how diligent the safety cover was for the them.
This experience has also given me the confidence to put myself on the start line for the Ullswater end to end this year.
Thank you all again for a fabulous time. I hope to return sometime in the future and get the battle done.

Many thanks.
